I might add, the Giant MCR was also banned, and that was just as odd, no real top tube. It was a very hard bike to even build much less go fast.
For one thing, the Trek Y foil has proved its aero design with rider and in conventional positioning.

If you've haven't already, do check out the Slowtwitch forum / triathlon TT retro and history. So many bizarre useless CO$TLY designs.
