Eventually it became a rusted hunk of metal with nothing salvageable. During that time, I'm guessing the owner got hundreds of offers from prospective buyers. It was painful to watch the decline of a beautiful car.
Simular situation, 57' Corvette sitting in a field near a house on my route with the windows half open. After seeing it for 3 years I asked the homeowner if they'd be interested in selling it. They said that it had been there for 10 years and would ask the owner. It was gone the next week.
