Well, I just installed these on 55mm center to center studs on a 22mm(?) Weinmann concave rim and they work... sort of.

Dia Compe supplied these with fairly thick pads compared to modern Tektro's which use a holder.

But they do work and stop the bike pretty well, once I replaced the stock pads with the narrower Tektro pads. My guess is that a pair of Koolstop thinlines will work best so I will be ordering the salmon colored ones shortly.
