I have several pair of LOOK Delta format pedals. On some of the older ones the metal in the middle, where the rubber boot on the cleat rubs it, gets worn down. Just a very little bit. But that wear, combined with the worn rubber boot, causes the hard nylon/plastic of the cleat to rub which produces the squeak. I put a blob of ShoGoo type glue on the rubber boot to thicken back up and it corrects the problem.
