the only issue I see here is if you can't replace the bearings because of their smaller OD, and if they don't sell replacement bearings, you're stuck having to buy a new bottom bracket. And with that comes the issue that if their bearings aren't that good, you'll be replacing them more than you would like to.
All bearings are replaceable. None of these companies are getting special one off bearings made for them in the relatively small quantities they use.
You just need to get them from bearing or industrial suppliers not bike part suppliers.
