the question now is... can i run a 10-speed chain over the 8-speed chainrings?
you can perform a simple test, : take a 10 speed chain , and slip it over the chainrings of your existing crankset..
does the chain settle well, over the teeth?

yes ,, it's a Go, ... no? you can buy new chainrings with the teeth machined thinner... in the front :'speeds' are 1~3..

Roller width at some point, * stopped getting thinner , then the side plate steel thickness was reduced ...
to pack more of the cassettes cogs, in a limited width..

* a historian on the topic, I am Not..
