I think that a part of the attraction, as least for my boy, is the hip-hop affectation. I listen to a wide variety of music, but I have shied away from that genre when the kids are about, because language/themes on some of albums that I love.

But that doesn't explain why it aggravates me so much... I feel like it's something about the cadence and dynamics. Other musicals have a similar effect, but to a lesser extent.
