Though I can still ride a 56 with comfort, I now feel equally comfortable when riding a 54. I never could get a 54 to fit and, sadly, sold this 1971 Masi Grand Criterium because of the size(54). It was just a tad too small and I tried hard to get it to work for me. No dice...


As I understand it, the padding between our bone joints hardens and shrinks with the aging process. The process is referred to as ossification, I think. Not sure if I explained that correctly but these days, I ride this old Bianchi, the same size as the Masi and have a darn near perfect fit...
