Don’t have any experience with them, but Tacx vortex and Bushido can be had for $225-275, respectively, from some of the British shops (I think shipping is around $50-60).

datlas mentioned, dcrainmaker has quite a bit of reviews and annual <equipment> recommendations post that sometimes goes into way too much detail than I can handle. If the rumors of new trainers being debuted at Eurobike in a couple of weeks is true, we might be seeing increased number of direct drive trainers on Craigslist in a month or so. GPLama has a short video of brand specific “what to look for” when shopping for a used trainer if I remember correctly. Some of the newer trainers went through quite a bit of teething pains, so it’s good that he mentions the versions/build date ranges to avoid and such.
