Tandem was shipped via bike flights (ups) and had been professionally packed by our lbs that is familiar with tandems. I can't be sure how the damage occured but there were two punctures on the box in the general area of the dropout. I paid for 5k of thier "premium protection" and i have to say once i got an official written quote from calfee for the repair, which was quoted as 1-2 days but took 3 weeks, the claim process and approval was pretty expedient.
