roadbikeChris since the bike is going to be rider not a restoration, paint it what ever color suits your fancy.
One suggestion, you should put the bike together enough to ride it to make sure it fits and you like the way it rides.
If you put a lot of time and money into it and decide the bike is not your cup of tea then a custom paint job is going to be hard to sell and you'll never recoup your expenses.
