It's such a subjective thing. If I was a prof and had to read horror or erotica I'd be marking it down just because those are the two genres/sub genres I literally can't read. Everyone has their own style. And tastes change. I used to enjoy flowery prose and now I'd prefer to read a screenplay. I don't think most teachers realize their own biases.
