Hi I live in the south west side of Charlotte and there is a good variety of riding here. I moved here from West Virginia and I have found Charlotte to be a great place to ride. If you want flat roads they are around but most of what I have seen is rollers. Plus there is some very nice steep hills tucked away here and there.

The best thing about Charlotte is the availability of rides. There are tons of club, charity and group rides in the area. But if you want to get serious, with in a couple of hours of Charlotte there is some of the most grueling centuries in the country. Lastly, I have ridden every weekend except one since the time change.

The only thing I don't like here is the traffic. Most of the roads have a 35mph+ speed limits and everyone drives 10 mph over that. So the major roads are more like race tracks. Good luck with the move!
