Thanks for the replies and the info about how the forums work! I'm not a super big bike nerd, mostly just like to ride, have just been seduced by the mystery of this frame.
I did add some pictures of the underside bottom bracket, it has long cutaway areas and a "2" engraved on it (same as under the fork). No other sign of serial numbers or anything though, but again, hard to tell with the paint job, which we had to chip away to uncover the "2" to begin with.
