Another approach is to get a phone case specifically for use on your bike, stick a Garmin-mount adapter on the back, and use a Garmin mount (on the stem, stem cap, or out front). This is what I'm doing. Just make sure the phone case has a smooth flat section in the center, for sticking on the adapter.
