Urban assault! 26 x 2.5 Inch (61-559 ISO) They are listed for sale on bike tires website but I am not allowed to post link since I am new.

Thanks for any help.
The tires will fit your rims, yes. Rims labled as "26 x decimal" (such as 1.5) have a 559mm bead seat diameter, which is the "559" part of the tire's size. "61" is the nominal width in millimeters. This is a less ambiguous way to refer to wheels and tires because there's no confusion about what fits what. 559mm tires fit 559mm wheels. 622mm tires fit 622mm wheels (often called "700c").

The other question is whether the tires will fit into the frame, and whether the brakes will be able to open wide enough to accept the 61mm tires. Your rims probably have a width of 18-20mm, and this is where your brakes are adjusted. You may not be able to open the brakes wide enough for the tires to slide in, even if they'll fit in the frame. A 48-52mm tire will almost certainly fit well. The 61s will probably be close.
