The funny thing is that I had never heard of nor seen this bike until two weeks ago. All of the sudden an older coworker asked me if I could get his bike road ready, a bike that he had not ridden in around 20 years and maybe sat on a couple of times before that. Then BOOM this shows up in my office. All I had to do was a quick tune up, add pedals and tubes and voilą it was ready to go. I returned it to him and he couldn't have been more pleased. Turns out he smoked a heck of a lot of Marlboro Reds back in the day to get this bike....Then I cycle home that evening and my neighbor, an MTA bus driver, rolls up behind me just as I unclip. He was on the SAME bike as my coworker. He recently dug it out of the garage after about the same number of years and is now commuting to his bus depot on it. Turns out his father smoked a ton of Marlboro's at that time for the bike. It seems like such a strange promotion, smoke a ton to get a bike... So odd but great to see them being ridden.
