I replaced the original brakes on my 1992 Santana Sovereign with Paul Minimotos. I tried without Travel Agents (TA) and found that I needed the TAs to get enought cable pull. These brake well. BUT, the rim squeal is world-class. I have tried all the tricks in the book to fix the squeal (different pads, rims, sanding the pads, rim cleaning, toe-in, toe-out). I have not tried a brake stiffener, but this should not be needed on these brakes.
Same squealing experience here with the Paul Minimotos on our Co-Mo Speedster. Tried everything including a DaVinci stiffener. Emailed Paul several times for help, but got no response. Just ordered some TRP CX8.4's (pricey!). Will let you know how they work.
