Here's a thought. I have an unsuspended Cartrike Trail. I replaced the stock tires with Big Apple balloon tires and the ride increased significantly. There is less slam on bumps and things are generally just smoother. Many think that Big Apples and Big Bens improve the ride of unsuspended trikes.

The tires don't feel as "connected" to the road as the stock tires, being larger and using much less inflation pressure, you can feel them flex a little. But the trike still is a super handler--it doesn't so much act different in corners as feel different. It still easily outcorners my ICE Adventure.

Anyway, a 559 with balloons is something to consider.
