Beautiful job on this Corvette. The Corvette is a middleweight bike sold with 26" x 1.75" tires. Because it had fenders a 2.l25" tire may fit just fine. I would check though. They were sold as 3 speeds and coaster brake. The 3 speed model had rim brakes. You will have to change the brakes as you noted. I raced in the Klunker era with a homemade Klunker of my own here in Northern California. There was a lot of 3 speed Sturmey Archer hubs being raced off road in 1980. So your conversion to Klunker can retain the 3 speed and be a correct Klunker. Good luck with your conversion

1979 26" frame Schwinn Varsity with 700c x 40mm tires and a 1 x 10 setup. Tektro 559 brakes. Profile BMX 180mm cranks, S and M BMX handlebar on BMX stem. Very nice bike to ride on gravel. A workout on the hills though.
