That’s low. Average is a bit over 900°F. Higher temperatures can be achieved depending on the location in the fire. You can cremate a body in a wood fire and that takes from 1400° to 1800°F. Wood fires can go even hotter than that to around 2000°F.
The main point is that there is little to no control over how hot the fire gets.
