Two ways I use.

First is what I call the northern route to Redondo Beech pier, then you can head south around the peninsula. From the blue line station at Wardlow Rd head west on Wardlow Rd, which becomes E 223rd St (truck traffic but wide shoulder); turn right onto Lucerne St which becomes E 220th St; turn right onto Bonita St; turn left onto E Carson St.; turn right onto Denker Ave; turn left onto W 213th St.; turn right onto Cabrillo Ave; turn left onto Torrance Blvd and take it to Redondo Beach pier. I have only used this path from Long Beach to Redondo Beach/PV so not sure how well it would work in reverse.

The second way is more southerly but connects up with Anaheim St east of Wilmington. I generally use this route from PV back to LB so I write it as follows Starting at Battleship Iowa go north on Front St; turn right onto N Pacific Ave; continue onto John S Gibson Blvd;, after 1.3 miles just before an overpass take the sidewalk on the right and head east to Harry Bridges Blvd.; continue onto Alameda St; turn right onto Anaheim St (there is a good shoulder on Anaheim until 9th St. in Long Beach, where it gets narrow 3 lanes across the 710 and LA river.
