Maybe not with no BB shell cutouts and you don't ride in the rain. But I definitely use them in all my keepers. If I have a spare, I'll put it in a nice flip. They usually already have them in place.
^^^ if no BB cut out I would agree with SR.... It is hard for debris to get into the BB.
