I'm only guessing but I expect these are Campy's equivalent to Shimano's "Flite Deck". This was a dedicated cyclometer that indicated gear position and a "virtual cadence" by being wired to the STI brifters. Perhaps Campy had a similar system for some models although my 2006 Chorus Ergos didn't have them.
