For my 60th I planned to ride north of the 60th parallel. The closest place to do that was to ride from Edmonton to Hay River. Mrs. Dan said go and have fun...Then I priced a flight from Hay River back to Edmonton. Those bush plane flights are expensive. So I switched from the closest place to the cheapest place. I picked the Shetland Islands.
Suddenly Mrs. Dan decreed that there was no way I was going to go to Shetland alone and leave her here in Fargo. And for the two of us that meant getting a tandem. So that was it. Buy a tandem, then ride north of the 60th. It seems like 70 is not too far away, which might mean a ride from Fairbanks to Prudhoe Bay and back. Not likely to be on the tandem.
