I picked horizontal because my bars are not pointed at the rear hub. I point the flat, bottom-part of the bars down just a couple of degrees. I also set my Campy Ergo levers per the manual and as I have every brake lever for the past 30+ years: tip of the lever about 1/8-inch above the bottom of the bars, using a straight edge.
