I know where you are at on this and was there a year or so ago myself. Had St. Lewis Plating, a family owned business, remove the paint and chrome and re-plate the chrome on a fork for $50. Beautiful work. From the Niromors and EU reference I assume you are in the EU so I suspect unless you have a similar shops in your area this is no help.
