1 always for a rear light (one with a small LED for battery status helps!)
1 more for a headlight if it's winter or late night mountain biking
And I always have my cellphone on me or on a clunky phone bar mount.
I never liked the idea of needing to charge my shifters or other. Even if it is only once every few months
