Can't help with your question but curious: Were you able to ride up and get a hiker/biker campsite on the fly, or did you have to reserve? The Yellowstone site mentions there are a few hiker/biker sites, but not clear if that's a no-cyclist-turned-away policy like many state campgrounds on the coast.
