So no...nothing is ever easy...that's why we ride bikes. If it were easy we'd turn it over to all of the OCPs and take up x-country skiing.
Cross country skiing isn't an option. It never snows here.
Still, I don't think this was a bad decision. Unless someone knows how to make cables longer, I would have needed new cables whether I did it or if I had my LBS do it.
