The Campy tool makes sure you get the oversized dust covers off without putting any nicks in them. I don't have one, so when I am dismantling one of these hubs, I use two hacksaw blades. I lay two blades across the jaws of a vise with the smooth (non-toothed) edges facing each other, bring them tight against the hub, and then whip some tape around them on each side of the hub (so they don't slip apart and mar your hub). Then just tap the end of the axle lightly with a piece of 2x4 and the cap comes right off without a hitch, with the hub itself falling through the vise jaws into your other hand (don't forget that part or you won't like the result).
