Well, mine did. In fact, I recently put on a new chain - forget which one other than it was SRAM - which was more expensive than others I've used. The shop guy said it could be a problem if the cassette was worn though, because of the closer tolerances. But he said I would notice it right away if my cassette was worn too much. As it turned out, it worked just fine.
