Welding Cable Guides

I was thinking about brazing a cable guide onto my old frame (and if it goes well, then i would put one onto my new frame) right by the headtube, so that i wouldnt have to use a zip tie, or shoelace(like i am now) to hold my cable in place...

I think that most cable guides are brazed on, and i can get the little ring thing off of an old bent fork i have that the cable will fit through, so what do you all think?

Has anyone done this before?
