It's pretty hard for me to separate primary and secondary motives. I selected 1)fitness and 2)personal time/fun. My wife and I wanted to get into better shape thru an activity we could do together. We bought bikes for each other for our wedding anniversary last year. Since then, we've had a great time riding 550 miles together ... and are celebrating our 43rd anniversary this weekend with an overnight bike trip.
