That could be part of the reason, but I don't think that's it. I've heard that half of the NASCAR fans are women even though the sport has very few women drivers and the culture definitely favors bonehead males

But then again, it's a bunch of guys going around in circles and everyone talks about how they feel all the time -- just like figure skating which is a chick sport if there ever was one. BTW, before all the racing and figure skating fans crucify me, I have followed NASCAR for 30 years and skate myself (just picked up some specially ordered skates last Saturday).
