If you're pushing (or over) 40, Joe Friel says that 'older' guys can only handle 2 or 3 hard sessions a week. In my opnion, the hard days have gotta be hard, and the easy days REALLY easy, like 55% mac HR for less than 80mins.
Pushing 40... 4 months to go
I'm not doing hard days, 6-7 hrs aerobic (70-80%) p/w and only 1 or 2 hard sessions.
