Finding a good way to re-use the material would be responsible and the thread topic is a good question that often goes unrecognized, but the reality is, over 90% of old helmets just get thrown out and end up in the land fill never to be broken down because of the nature of the material. The product is such that the manafactures have put themselves (and the earth) in a pickle. They want to expand but they have reached ceiling (or plateau) of use so they have ended up re-selling the same product to the same people (who don't need them) and the old products end up going from something that has some use to being useless, destructive waste.
