could work real well. it's all in the dropouts if they can move back and forth (semi-horzontal not vertical dropouts) the conversion is easy as pie.

me personnally i'd ride it till the gears start giving you trouble THEN fix it.

no sense fixing something that isn't broke ya know

but then fixed gear is the new black, it cures cancer, and will make you strong like bull. but above all that it's fun.

when you do convert it, just do us a favor and wear a helmet and use brakes till you know what your doing.
