I have an older Peugeot mixte frame, "Marseille", that I've converted to singlespeed. However, I just realized that the spacing between the fork arms seems to exceed the axle length of the 27" wheel that came with it. The wheel goes on, but one of the fork arms has bent up the QR spring, and the I can't really tighten the QR down enough. We're talking maybe 2/3 mm too wide. There's also no room to add spacers/washers on the axle.

So does this mean that the fork arm's just a little bent? I would think this immediately, except that the QR really doesn't tighten it down enough. Is there some kind of easy method of minor cold-setting I could do to the arm? Or, alternatively, should I just go find a new axle to replace this one with?
