Bendix made these hubs in the U.S. I don't know if they supplied Peugeot, or if there are other makers of the "kickback" hubs. Bendix hubs have either red, blue or yellow bands around the center. The red and yellow are a gear reduction. The blue is an overdrive, meant for small wheel bikes, so I would guess your bike has that version.
