They work pretty well from everyone I know who has em. Crazy pricey tho. Have you seen the new Campy "skeleton" brakesets? They are pretty nice from a design standpoint and even the high end ones are no doubt cheaper than Zero's.
Part of the "extrusion" girder design of the arms is what gives them they're rigidity.
