Hope there's some people from PDX 'round here. I'm new to the area and haven't found an answer to this in any books or on the web.
I'm looking for good cycling routes by which to exit Portland, get on some lower traffic roads, and end up at a place to camp. I've explored the Historic Columbia River Highway, and Skyline, but haven't found neat places to camp. There's a nice spot on the coast I'd like to ride to, but don't care to take 26W out of the city. Is it best for me to drive for 30 minutes then get on my bike? That seems like cheating.
Any and all info on sub 24/36/48 hour trips leaving Portland would be greatly appreciated!
