RE: burqa
I heard that there was a study being released in regards to it's unexpected aerodynamic benefits.

I did a little over 4hrs today and had 2 flats and 2 nosebleeds. This time of year it's cold and dry and it does a number on my sinuses, and since the leaves haven't been covered up by snow I'm also sort of dealing with weird allergy issues too.
I'm going to pretend the nosebleeds are due to my veins being overstuffed with ALL OF THE HEMOGLOBIN because base.

If my girlfriend had a male roommate I would maybe be ok with it but I would have considered the possibility of them doing the middle part of jfc at some point. But then again I'm stuck in 2014,back when dudes liked to hook up with women.

...dudes. Fwiw, I'm a chick with a male roommate and it's 100% platonic (it 'helps' that I'm not into guys, but hey).
1hr of recovery. First time in a lonnnnng time I've done it outside and not on my trainer. Felt nice. Also nice to have added 10w to my recovery zone

Team cross ride this morning, by far the coldest ride of the year. 25F with a brutal 20 mph wind (the wind blows right through you // it's no place for the old) and snow once we got to the top of the ridge.
Beautiful morning though!

@globecanvas I was at the gym and saw a guy doing box jumps to a 24 inch box. He took off on two legs and landed on one and went into a pistol shot position with his free leg straight out in front. He did a set of back squats and then back to jumping and used a 12 inch box to jump with one leg and land in the same pistol shot position. He had great form and balance. I do pistol shot one leg stuff but no one leg jumps or landings. BTW, I would not do one leg jumps due to too much risk if I miss the landing or jack my back or knee on the take off but this guy seemed to have it down.

That's interesting. For one leg jumps I alternate between landing with the free leg behind or out front pistol squat style. I do them on a 12 inch box (started at 20, then 16, now 12 - actually I am jumping off a 4" block onto a 16" box because I don't have a good 12" surface). I did a few years of ballet and modern dance performance after college so I feel like I have decent body control, although that was 25 years ago so the control is not unconscious, it takes mental effort.
I really concentrate on preloading and then jumping as if the box were a few inches higher. It still feels risky, because any lack of focus causes the jumps to get lazy, and complacently jumping just high enough to clear the top of the box is where the risk is. As a result the workout is mental in addition to physical. I've had 3 botched one leg jumps out of probably about a thousand, no real damage but it does cause a definite sense of relief when I get through a set without incident. I always do the one leg jumps first because afterwards, jumping off 2 legs is practically relaxing, mentally speaking.
I will try jumping off two legs and landing on one. But it's the jump that feels like the important fast twitch training, the landing feels more like typical leg strength work a la squats.

You know what would be cool, is a device that measures how high your jump is. So you could jump and land on the ground, but target a number.
Well, I guess you could just jump and try to touch something high up. I might mess around with that.

since i felt OK at work yesterday I figured I'd go out and see how i felt today. ended up doing a tad more than 4 hours. probably not the smartest decision but I didn't have any symptoms so I figured why not. windy and chilly compared to the weather we've been having. managed to way way underdress.

Group ride this morning, wet but not raining. 2:10, 180 TSS
Took the main sprint on the homeward stretch solo from 15 minutes out, 1.08 IF for that, hurt like hell. Then took the following downhill sprint. Small group though, and mattm had dropped out so it doesn't count for as much haha

about 1 per hour. the 5th one was done at 4:35. I also try to do them in ascending difficulty, so the last few were ~10-15w higher than the first 2.

I probably would've been too weak to hang with you, but would have tried for sure. One of our guys got a flat on caņada on the way back, so we stopped.
