New very fancy shoes, which is great. Less great - the stack height is substantially lowered compared my old shoes, which was risky for my knee (very sensitive to saddle height), but I pushed it anyway cause damn it I can TELL I make more power with the saddle higher and I hate having to compromise for my crappy knee. Well, today I dropped the saddle a few mm and called my session early. Should be fine by tomorrow, but I'm an idiot.

I braved the cold and did tt bike intervals.
100% then like 95% and 95%

I am doing a 100-mile solo TT on Saturday as part of the lowkey hillclimb series. It is such a terrible idea, but **** it, yolo. If I wear through my taint, lose function in my hands or destroy my hamstrings it gives me an excuse to get out of this dumb sport.

1hr recovery ride. Really looking forward to tomorrow's FTP session. Sharing it with one of the other girls on the team (helping get her ready for racing next weekend: her first US crit).

Wait, you grew up where and you claim that a dry 24 degrees is cold?

I've used a T shirt. Works very well. Fold it down a bit to size, wrap the sleeves around back and tie em.

I grew up in MN. Coldest I can recall ever being was in PHX, riding in the goddamn dark at 20f in the morning in 2014 Christmas.

There's a coincidence. I've been reading Terry Pratchett with my kids, and last night we read a great scene where a revolutionary shouts "you can take our lives but you can never take our freedom!" The opposing side is puzzled by this, eventually decides it is the most badly thought out war cry in the history of the universe, and shoots the revolutionary.

A former teammate, now domestic pro, just put up a 20 minute test at 460w. He's a big guy, but not that big. I'm unable to get my head around that number.

Snap. How much does he weigh? (I do take your point about the number itself though. 460w is just a monster number at any weight for 20 minutes).

LOl. Poorly worded and borrowed from somewhere else in history yet one of the most famous quotes/scenes in a movie!

crazy warm but the roads were wet and gross so I did 90 minutes of steady state work on the rollers followed by a 40' fixed gear commute.

there's a guy on our team (higher brass) that puts up a 370+w 20min, at 140lbs.

4x10 last night. Most every interval interrupted by stop lights/cars/pedestrians/etc. Kind of a waste and a bucket of frustration.

When I read stuff like this, I'm happy I live in BFE, VA. I ride 20min down the road to my Forest Service Road to Nowhere, where I will very likely see no one.

I also don't have to worry about someone taking my KOM.

3x6 @ 110% on rolling terrain, on the single speed. For the next month I'm going to try two Z5 days per week, one hard day of short intervals and one less hard day of longer intervals. I did the hard day Monday so this is the less hard one.

Average cadence for the intervals was up around 110 rpm but I was spinning out on the downhills. But 125 rpm is exhausting even if you're not going 110%!

this is why I did 10 minute intervals on my TT bike. There is not enough road to ever do a 20 minute without multiple turns or stops. Even with 10-minute intervals I am having to make u-turns. I guess it's a +1 for trainer stuff.
