3x8 grassy hill climbs. Real talk: doing CX intervals in high summer is GRIM.

What's really getting me doing these is how much of a problem I have with my muscles running out of steam before my anaerobic or aerobic energy systems do. I've got to hit the weights. Get swol. Go faster!

day in day out riding whiteface. putting up consistent efforts that would have been hand springy outlier race efforts just a year ago. One nice thing about climbing mountains is there's no place to hide.

5 hours because bikes.

Power was low overall (rode with a good sized group), but when you have been training for and racing crits...the end of a 5 hour ride gets a little tough

First ride in 2 weeks. I definitely felt the muscle, but it wasn't in pain so that's a positive. Probably going to have to ride in fred mode for another 2 weeks before I can open it up.

2.5 hrs this morning, 60 min solo z2 before crushing a 90 min group ride.

Cleaned up, worked for a couple hours, then met some friends for about 75 min of mtb action at Mission Trails. It's cool to start keeping up with (or passing) these guys on some of the techy and downhilly sections. I pwn them when pedaling is required to go fast of course .

Good day!

More 'cross training. It's hard to believe, but it's only 4 weeks till the first race. Today was one of the more fun workouts you can do - go down to the park, work out a 5-6 minute lap and do it as fast as you can. 30 second run-up included for good measure. Felt good to go fast off-road on a 'cross course again.

rode 90mins of tempo tonight, lower z3, and feeling pretty darn good, as in it's a lot easier for me to do this type of thing now compared to early spring when my ctl was in the basement. basically, i just like to go out and ride a long time and not feel gassed, so not really a competitive focus, although i'm starting to do hill intervals and trying to work on the 3-5 min power stuff

i'll admit, i've given more than a second of thought into trying cross this season with my hybrid, i'm sure that's a world of pain i'm woefully unprepared for!

Trying to get back in shape after chemo. Just got a powermeter and am trying to get comfortable setting and using the correct zones. Did a recovery ride yesterday (after trying to do an FTP test the day before). Shocked by how slow the recovery ride is.

My CTL hit 100 yesterday, and yesterday I got on the podium for the first time since we had twins. Coincidence?

last week vacation in Fort Lauderdale, happy to get in 100 miles on Trek bike with kids around. Nice bike lanes & beach scenes to Boca Raton & Miami.
It was interesting riding with sneakers and getting that "look" from kitted up guys, dropping some on the rides .

Give me a shout if you're looking into doing a race and I might be able to hook you up with my spare bike. It'll probably be a bit on the small side, but it'll be way better than a hybrid.

Best of luck and you must be strong to go through that.

Reminds me of when my idea of training was going as hard as I could every single day!

128 miles today. A friend rode up from the city and I rode down from the Gunks and we met at Bear Mountain, then turned around and rode back. More miles for me but he was on a single speed with a pannier so he probably wins. Long day in the saddle.

This is some sort of tall ship seen from Storm King Mountain just north of West Point. 90% of tall ships in the Hudson are the sloop Clearwater but this isn't. It had a Norwegian flag.

However many TSS 5 very long days of packing trucks and unpacking, mostly in horrible temperatures.

I am not riding at all this week. I am doing some light stretching and ab work. I may start doing some body weight exercises too. If I feel like it. But for now, I am just taking a break and trying to not get too fat in one week - it's really amazing how quickly I can gain five pounds.

GMSR ITT pacing test! I get to go as hard as I can for 15min! I might wind up turning it into an FTP thing since I haven't done one in forever, but I'm not sure i want to deal with the corresponding drop in tss that will likely come with t.

Back from a long weekend in Tahoe. Didn't get to ride as much as I'd have liked due to extended family commitments but did manage to get in some decent climbing. Was pleased and really surprised to PR a 1450ft climb by more than 5 minutes, without really trying.
