Left work early today and set out for at least 2.5 hours. Then it started raining...and I cut the ride short.

At least it was 75 degrees. And a wee bit windy

And I realized (once again, because I never ride in the rain) that my brakes are basically non existent in the rain. I really need to get new brake pads..aluminum wheels should stop in the rain!

clean your brake track with isopropyl alcohol, do the same with the pads. Enjoy your new found stopping abilities!

Yeah, I usually ride before work but this week my wife had a consulting gig out of town so I have had to get the kids ready for school. I feel a little more time constrained but it was nice not to need lights or armwarmers.

After my crash swapped wheels and went out for headlands loop before work. Still can't get to the bridge without looking at maps! That area is like a 3 dimensional maze of roads. Anyway, 8' hill at my second best 8 minute effort (5.0) and then 5' a bit higher, with some tempo around the loop in between. The fact that the KOM on the first hill is sub 6 is crazy. But I did have unlubed post-rain chain to slow me down.

Rode last night, first time in a week or two.

New kit is nice - it's nice to not wear neon orange anymore!

New seat not so nice.. need to return it.

Blood lactate test this morning. LT is up 4%, which is great for early off-season (after my 3 week break, and my first 4 week block of training). LT is up to 242, which puts FTP in the 270-275 range. Aiming for another 8-10% LT increase over the season.

ugh! hate when that happens, best luck in getting this settled.

Funny, my best LT test up until about a month ago was done a couple of weeks after last year's end of season break. There must be something to the whole "don't touch your damn bike" thing!

Ive been riding less lately (but I added some running), and I seem to be riding just as good as I was in the summer. Tried testing a week or 2 ago, but I didn't warm up properly and my leg/hip started to tighten up and hurt so I had to bail. Was on target to match the last test I did...which was nice.

I did my wednesday climbing. W. Alpine for time. Set my PR by about 10 seconds, but compared to Nick and compared to my previous time, I was an additional 30 seconds up before I hit the gale-force winds coming from the East today. Was ridiculously hard for the final couple K.

and only for the people that really care, the wind was brutal.

hate that climb - stair stepping, never ends, on the wrong side of the mountain, everyone else seems to love it, etc. GJ though, top 3 on that climb would be pretty tough (hell, top 5 and top 10 are pretty good guys are well...)

going to try https://graphics.stanford.edu/~lucas...anonorbit.html for the first time right now. maybe i'll have a new least favorite climb when im back.

Nice Hermes, enjoy! Terry is a nice guy that frequents TNR when it's in season.

I like the black one better, but the blue isn't bad.

Either one beats orange, this much we can agree on!!
