I have been in some very difficult wind situations with the 45 mm wheels and not a problem although, I do feel the wind more than narrower profile wheels.
Yeah, it seems to be the consensus that ~45-60mm is the sweet spot for rims. It was windy again on my ride last night and I think you're right that its a little worse than box sections in general. However, I only really get worried when cornering in the wind. Is the cornering force strong enough to make my fear of the wind illogical, or is it something I should continue to be super cautious of? I'm also a bit anxious of how it will be in a pack on a windy day, but I guess the solution there is to just stay super sheltered so the wind can't touch me!

on high-speed high-wind situations I prefer cornering to straight. going through the corner holds the wheel better, imo. It's the straights where I notice wind. Utah drop in on the RR was 50+ mph, straight, and windy. I didn't enjoy that few minutes.

You need a better fan. Maybe two. Seriously.

I did a group ride through Patterson Pass when it was windy. The wheels were not a problem in the peloton.

It's so nice out I decided to throw some intervals this afternoon. Rode over the high school and I'm running up and down the bleachers carrying my bike and wearing a superman cape.

love my powertap, been riding with it for a year. I should have got one much earlier, had been riding with a stopwatch and HRM for years.

Alternatively, CycleOps PowerTap G3 Alloy Shimano Wheelset with Joule 1.0 Computer

New set of training hoops with g3 hub + head unit for $560. Caveat: wheels are heavy and unaero for racing. I will vouch that they are bombproof.

Kicked down 2x30' on Fiesta this morning, felt great. Second interval I ended up 10w higher than my target, and extending for 3'.

Crazy out there, very windy, choppy surf, with a smorgasboard of on again/off again rain, even 2min of hail. Couple rainbows here and there. The wind kicking up sand and sideways rain made visibility very low on certain parts of the island, which felt epic. 255w netted me 16mph on one side of the island, 26+ on the other.

back on after a couple of days of fighting a cold passed on by my little guy. 2hrs @ 200w 120tss

love having the powertap, only annoying thing is having to change tires when going in vs out (not so bad putting the trainer tire on, it's a folding bead, but I still have a wire bead outdoor tire, never again). also, the ocd 41ish part of me hates that the wheel doesn't match anything I have, but i'd rather be good than look good lol

This works pretty well - if I have to train indoors I use that at my back and a less crazy fan in front.

my garmin reported 40f, and even though its a random number generator the fact that my fingers still have no feeling several hours later speaks to it being cold. I'm going to have to rework my schedule to ride at lunch during the winter i think.

Well the laps take a rider like myself a little over 10' at z4, so I get the full spectrum of wind/rider orientation each interval.

I just felt good, and that I could do a little more on the second interval without it being too big a detriment to my riding for the rest of the week. I'm on week3 of base1 currently, so fatigue management is important.

60 minute lunch break:
4' change and hop on bike
3' warm up
43' trying to keep steady over undulating terrain; averaged 92% of FTP
3' cool down
7' shower, dress and get to my next meeting with lunch in hand.

Cripes it was cold out tonight. Must have hit like 50 degrees! Quite a change from the 80 plus a couple days ago.

I flatted 3 miles into my ride and decided to pack it in and ride home after changing the tube in the dark. Damn early season rains are the worst for flats with all of the debris on the roads. My Garmin said 50 degrees at one point which I wasn't dressed for.

I tried a Zwift workout yesterday. They've got some work to do, but the interface to my trainer worked well. I finished up right before the TNW races started. I'm going to try one of those soon.

Day 4, no riding (the final insult?)

Colors no longer exist. Sounds have taste. I have built a reallllly large keyboard so I can type with mittens on.
