4 hours today, 3 hours with the team. 255 tss. It was super windy and I got dropped twice (yay regroup spots)
It was more like hang on for dear life as we hammer like its June and try not to get blown over.
Good times.

Group ride was pretty hard. I rode my new Madone so no power which was actually pretty nice!

Easy fun ride yesterday to get my legs turning over again. The weather was beautiful, it was great to get out there. Threshold test today. Focused more on checking my LTHR than power, so I did the Friel protocol of the 30' test with HR averaged from last 20' to get LTHR. Not really well-paced for power, and not a great protocol for estimating FTP. Still, I was curious, so I checked. From the recorded 20' interval, 241 W. Not bad. Best 20' was 247 though, only 1-2 W down on my best FTP test from last summer. Best 30' was 245, which is an all-time best. And I'm not sure why that recorded 20' interval came out 4 watts lower, but whatever. Anyway, it's late February and my FTP is probably essentially the same as it was last June. And I haven't done any threshold or VO2 work yet. Zero. So that has me feeling pretty decent.

slept in and missed the team ride so i did 4 hours on the fixed gear. unsure if it was the winds or fatigue from yesterday in my legs but it was a damn death march.

I did one sanctioned race in 2013, did a masters degree, now training to start racing for real. Trying the TCTP (on week 5), but just went for a ride yesterday, found hills and rain. 2 hours, 256 TSS, today 2.5 hours zone2 - endurance stuff. 523 TSS for the week, 8 hours total.
It'll probably look like I'm going backwards, but I'll line up.

Actually 113%, TSS is IF squared times hours.
regardless...
.. unpossible. FTP is set way too low. If you did a test @ 231 watts how could you possibly bang out 2+ hours at 247 watts?

Did you have many power spikes? My first ride was crazy with some random 1500 watt spikes for 5-10 seconds. Apparently I was getting interference from Bluetooth or something on my phone. Now when I ride I turn off wifi, location, and Bluetooth and it is much better.

I did the CTS test in mid-January, because I was following the program. I did 231 watts then, which I think puts my LT at 208 and this ride had a norm power of 247 and IF of 1.06. I'm still trying to figure out this whole training with power thing, I was going to wait a few more weeks to do another test. Perhaps I should do it sooner? I'll see myself out and move over to the training with power thread and come back when I know something.
How steady/jumpy was this ride?

I will just do another round of testing, go back to lurking until I'm more familiar with this stuff. Its easier that way, haha.

You would've noticed if they were crazy. It drove me nuts on hills when my power #'s would freeze.
Don't do that! Everyone was trying to help. Training at too low of an FTP won't help you as much as training with it properly set up. You probably wouldn't have noticed if someone didn't point it out.

You do your test and you pop back in here and tell us all how much higher your ftp is and then you stick around and ask questions to learn and share your progress and join in the hours/tss braggadocio that gets all of us through the off season!
