Before a ride, flag the KOM, then get 2nd. When KOM is returned to owner, your segment still shows you got a KOM.

people are often quick to post OTHER peoples' names while using a username. now, among those of us regulars it can be easy enough to figure out who is who, but there's some level of either work or time/participation here required to do that.

good enough to win san dimas. good enough to make it to the world tour level, even if he washed out.
honestly, by all objective standards that's at least pretty good. to say otherwise implies some agenda.
are there better? sure! but kids with promise don't always pan out for a whole variety of reasons.

He was in the article citing a climb only the top 60 in the world can do (another KOM, not Palomar). Then said Horner, a GT winner, got away stuff in speaking of the Palomar KOM - that someone flagged Horners KOM the day he road it.
So he established two KOMs that were so hard, they could only be done by dopers or a world top 60 climber. Then he, as world rank outside the top 1000 says is out to beat them.
So in the "real pro" world - he is not good enough to be taking KOMs from doped riders under the same circumstances (pre ride, weather etc.).

Phil just added me on Strava the other day so he's cool in my book!
As far as his talent level goes; he's still probably one of the top 100 climbers in the world. People fail to realize what makes the Froomes and Contadors so much better than everyone else is they have a whole team at their disposal. The difference between a 5.9 w/kg rider to a 6.2 one is the 5.9 guy is passing up bottles. Phil was also pretty honest in his articles about regressing when younger guys like Mike Woods were just faster.

On a large enough scale someone is always better than the next guy. Even the guy who is the best, the very best, loses way more than he wins. Merckx's outlier year was '71 and he won 45% of his races. Most years weren't close to that.

As I posted he is a very good USA pro. Curious if you read the interview. He is not going after America pro KOMs He is a kinda anti-doping vigilantist and that he scoped out Hrner's training ride as a target and made sure he mentioned Hrner got away with stuff, is at least as bad as what I'm doing in a semi private forum.

There are very few things in my life that bother me, and really things only errk me if they directly impact my family or myself. With that being said, the fact that people can actually get upset, offended, emotional, etc. about what someone else does on Strava boggles my mind. Dopers, ex-dopers, non-dopers, pros, non-pros, wanna-be pros, wind assisted, drafted assisted, digital doping assisted, who ******** cares?
I am glad this country has their priorities in line. If Strava means anything to you (other than finding new routes or being a free backup server for your ride data) then I suggest you get away from sanctioned racing and join SoulCycle or CrossFit. You know, where rankings, stats, and social media bs actually mean something.
