I bought one of last year's Venge Experts for cheap (it was raced at Nats RR!). I don't like the Specialized Aerofly 42 cm bars that it came with, so I'm selling them. I found some hugely discounted Bontrager Carbon Aero Road bars in 40 cm that I really liked at the Trek store, so I'm using those instead.
The plan is to use it as my race bike and do most of my training on my TCR advanced. The venge is cheap and fast - perfect for racing.

SL70 is a nice bar. The flare gives one the ability to run a narrower bar than they otherwise might and still be more comfortable in the drops/not hit their knees.
i prefer it to the 3T bars. It's been a few years since I've tested a 3T bar (last one was an Ergonova); the Zipp is (or at least was) stiffer.
The Specialized Aerofly is pretty nice, too.

Ignore the brakes (hard request) and look at the cable housing for the front brake.
There Cordz and links allow routing quite a bit better than braided metal cables.
They are spooky light and smoother, but to the point of this tread you can route them near the head tube. Much better than inches away.
As an aside...when junior goes back to school I'm going to attempt a route for rear inside stem and through top tube.

The DA2 - in background is going to UCI legal (because) mass start bike.
The IAB position will be used. Flat is too low.
Most aero position is flat torso and flat forearms (and narrow rolled shoulders yada yada).
Many low bars / zero rise put forearms pushing wind or body/torso too low.
In the planned setup these bars will be quite high compared to most coffee shop bikes. But the rider in the IAB position will be pretty slippery. And, also as you know - done this before.

Strangely enough, this is not my first purple bike. My very first bicycle was purple. My parents bought it at a garage sale for me. If I remember correctly, it had a plastic white banana seat. At some point, I left it lying in the driveway, and my mother backed over it, which apparently bent the frame. I never seemed to notice it, but according to my mother - so there's only about a 50% chance this is true - no one else could ride it because of the way it was bent.
Yes. It's going to make me so much more noticeable when I get dropped from crits.
@topflightpro - Santa deserves extra hugs for that! Finding proper bar tape is going to be...interesting.

@tetonrider what shape of extensions is fastest, and how to hold them? I have the speed concept ski-bend bar and I think it's fast if I put my hands near the top and get a little of the mantis position, closing the gap between arm and head, but it makes my wrists hurt a little as well.
Is there anything that says what extension shape is generally fastest? Does it even matter or is it all preference/comfort?

We paid money to the guy that also fits Amber (UCI ITT WC) and some other names he says ski poles. So we did ski poles. Not that for UCI reg fitting the extensions need to be parallel to ground, so a "real" mantis position with hands in face in not allowed.

I want to get different extensions for my TT bike, I don't like the mostly flat ones that are on the bike now..but I also don't want to spend a whole lot of money so like the last 2 years I will probably just stick with whats on the bike and deal with the occasional wrist discomfort after a TT

My TT bike (sadly, it's collecting dust) has the 3T ski bend extensions. I've also used the 3T S bend extensions and much prefer the feel of the ski bend. I feel like there is more control of the bike and there is less awkward bending of the wrists.
